The Italian word “piazza” is represents a place for exchange, conversation, and growth.
Similarly, Piazza conveys this definition by fostering a collaborative learning environment in a forum setting. Students can ask questions to their classmates or faculty at any time with the click of a button while instructors can moderate discussions and endorse answers.
As college students who have often used this platform, we are very aware of our peers’ frustrations with Piazza’s user interface.

Let’s take a glimpse at some pages on the platform

Upon viewing the layout of Piazza’s website, we noticed that there is a lot going on. In turn, it can easily be overwhelming for users to navigate. There are vastly different font weights, sizes, colors, and elements all at once. On top of that, the user flow was not as streamlined as it could be. The interface made users maneuver through unnecessary routes for a simple action.
